Perpetual Funding Rate Calculator

Know what funding costs before you open the position.

Perpetual futures charge or pay funding every 8 hours. This calculator shows the daily cost, total cost over your hold period, and the annualized rate — so you can factor ongoing funding into expected P&L before entering a position.

Funding Cost Calculator

Total notional value of your perp position, not margin posted.
Current rate shown on your exchange (e.g., 0.01 for 0.01%). Positive = longs pay shorts.
How many days you plan to hold the position.
Longs pay shorts when funding is positive; shorts pay longs when funding is negative.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Position size: Enter the total notional value (quantity × price), not the margin you posted. If you hold 1 BTC perp at $65,000, enter $65,000.
  2. Funding rate: Find the current funding rate on your exchange's derivatives page (e.g., Binance Futures, Bybit, OKX). It is typically displayed as a percentage per 8-hour funding interval.
  3. Hold period: Enter the number of days you intend to hold the position. For swing trades, 3–14 days is common; for longer directional holds, up to 30–90 days.
  4. Side: Select Long or Short. When funding is positive, longs pay shorts — the calculator applies the correct sign automatically.
  5. Interpret results: Compare "Total over hold period" to your expected profit from price movement. If funding represents more than 20–30% of expected profit, the trade may not have sufficient expected value to justify the position.
