The Company Glossary lists 4,254 public companies A to Z, each with a one-line overview drawn from SEC EDGAR filings: industry classification, exchange, ticker and headquarters.
Company Glossary
What is in the Company Glossary?
Each entry gives a company's SEC industry classification (its SIC code description), the exchange and ticker it trades under, and the city and state of its registered business address, as the company itself reported to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Entries link to the full Swoopr research dossier for that company.
The overview is deliberately short and factual. It says which industry the SEC files the company under and where it is based; it does not describe strategy, rate the stock, or predict anything. 3,808 of 4,254 entries carry SEC registrant data today. The rest show the ticker and index membership recorded in their dossier until a matching SEC record is found.
Results from this glossary also appear in site search, where you can filter to Company.

How These Entries Are Built
Registrant facts come from the SEC's public EDGAR submissions data for each company's Central Index Key (CIK). The SIC description is the SEC's own filing category, which can differ from the GICS sector used in index research and can lag a company's current business after a pivot or acquisition. Treat the glossary as a starting point for finding and identifying a company, then read its latest annual report (Form 10-K) for what it actually does.
