Direct answer

The S&P 500 Equal Weight Index uses the same constituent-company universe as the S&P 500. This directory should render from Swoopr's canonical issuer and security-line registries rather than from a hand-maintained HTML list.

The S&P 500 Equal Weight Index uses the same constituent-company universe as the S&P 500. This directory should render from Swoopr's canonical issuer and security-line registries rather than from a hand-maintained HTML list.

For the September 15, 2026 package snapshot, the registry contains 500 corporate issuers and 503 security lines. Alphabet, Fox Corporation and News Corp each contribute two included share classes, which is why the security-line count is larger than the company count.

How to use the directory

Users should be able to search by company name, ticker or alias and filter by sector, industry, sub-industry, share-class status and membership state. The default count should be by company, not by ticker, to prevent multi-class issuers from being double-counted. A separate security-line view can expose the 503 lines when that level of detail is useful.

Every row should link to the canonical /stocks/companies/{slug}/ research dossier and expose an Equal Weight membership summary. Do not create thin duplicate company pages beneath the index URL.

Current vs. pending

Current membership reflects the September 15 snapshot. S&P DJI has announced September 21 changes; these appear in a clearly separated pending-changes panel rather than being blended into the current directory before the effective date.

The complete current issuer list is included in this package at data/CURRENT-COMPANIES.md, while the machine-readable versions live in data/sp500-equal-weight-current-issuers.json and .csv.
