Investing at Age 73
If you were born 1951 through 1959, your required minimum distributions start at age 73. Your first RMD is due by April 1 of the year after you turn 73. Note that taking your first RMD in the following year means you will also owe a second RMD by December 31 of that same year, potentially pushing more income into a higher bracket in one year. Consider taking your first RMD in the year you turn 73 to spread the income.
